Pickleball Rules & Guidelines

Knowing the official rules and etiquette makes the game more enjoyable for everyone. Visit these resources to learn the basics and stay up‑to‑date:

Training & Drills

Practice makes perfect. Here are some drills and training tips to help you sharpen your skills:

  • Dinking Drill: Stand at the kitchen line and volley with a partner, focusing on soft shots that land just over the net.
  • Third Shot Drop: Practice this key shot by having a partner feed balls from the baseline and working on arching returns into the kitchen.
  • Footwork & Agility: Set up cones and practice lateral shuffles, split steps and quick pivots to improve court coverage.
  • Serving Consistency: Aim for deep serves with high arcs to push opponents back and set up your attack.

Gear & Equipment

Selecting the right equipment can elevate your game. Consider these tips when shopping for paddles, balls and shoes:

  • Paddles: Choose a paddle that balances weight and control. Lightweight paddles offer quicker reactions while heavier paddles provide more power.
  • Balls: There are indoor and outdoor balls; outdoor balls have smaller holes and are designed to handle wind.
  • Footwear: Look for court shoes with non‑marking soles that offer lateral stability and cushioning.
  • Accessories: Don't forget sunscreen, a water bottle and a towel to stay comfortable during play.
